Donald & Jessie married in 1853.
Donald arrived in Western Australia in 1839 as a shepherd, indentured to Captain Scully. By 1845 he was a independent flock master in partnership with brother John and cousin Ewen Mackintosh. He established a pastoral station at "Glentromie" in the Victoria Plains district and by the 1880s was a leading pastoralist, farmer & horse breeder.
