A white glazed ironstone shoe shaped bowl. It is hollow inside, wider and higher at one end, narrowing to the thinner end. It has a curved handle at the back.

Inscriptions and markings

Inside the bowl in black script writing is "The New Slipper Bed Pan" and underneath in italic lettering is "This slipper should be passed under the patient in front between the legs. If a flannel cap is needed for the blade fastened by strips under the handle, considerable comfort will be afforded" and underneath is "BEST ENGLISH IRONSTONE".
