PHOTOGRAPH (COPY): HOUSE, LOT 375 MUELLER (ROBERTS) ROAD, SUBIACO KNOWN AS 'JONES' FOLLY'
1959Black and white copy of a photograph of the first brick house in Subiaco, built 1886 by John Rowland Jones (lived 1841-1895). Made of red brick, the house features a corrugated iron roof, iron lace on the verandah and a bay window. A well was sunk in the area behind the house before it was built, and was an important facility for settlers and Afghan camel drivers. Photo taken from the street, in 1959. A picket fence is seen at the front of the property, as well as mature trees and bushes. A Moreton Bay fig tree can be seen in the background. One of several planted by J.R. and E. Jones' sons Jack and Fred c.1900.
