c. 1890Copy of a sepia photograph of the first brick house in Subiaco, built by John Rowland Jones in 1886. The house features a corrugated iron roof, iron lace on the verandah and a bay window. A well was sunk in the area behind the house before it was built, and was an important facility for settlers and Afghan camel drivers.
