Knapp family homework book
c. 1917cloth bound notebook with lined pages
This homework book was used by John, Eric and Gladys Knapp between 1918-21 whilst they attended the South Greenough State School. Included in the homework were letters the children had to write describing local events. Of special interest is one written on 20/09/1920 describing Major Brearley's flight from Dongara to Geraldton.
The South Greenough State School was located on the corner of what are now the Brand Highway and Flat Rocks Road, just to the south of St James’ Anglican Church. The one-teacher school opened in 1871. Following the introduction of school buses, the school closed in 1944. The school ruins were demolished in 1993.
