Wedding certificate of Amy Maley and Edward Goldsmith Whitfield, conducted at the Greenough Wesleyan Chapel on 4 April 1894 by Arthur J. Barclay and witnessed by J.M. Maley and Ethel H.J. Clinch.

"One of the most interesting events of the season took place at Greenough last Wednesday, when Miss Amy Maley, the third daughter of Mr J. S. Maley was married to Mr Edward Whitfield, the second son of the late Mr Thomas Whitfield of Yandanooka. The ceremony was performed by the Rev A. J. Barclay in the presence of numerous friends and well wishes. After the wedding the happy pair went to Yandanooka, and on Thursday left for their new home which is situated at the Green Hills near York." [Victorian Express 13 April 1894]

Amy Maley was born in this house on 18 August 1869. She attended the North Greenough State School. Amy married Edward Goldsmith Whitfield and the marriage produced a son and two daughters. Irwin Munro was born in 1895 (killed in Palestine in 1918), Claudia Kniest was born 1900 and Mary Guerin in 1902. The couple lived in York. Amy died at York on 14 April 1943 and is buried in the York Cemetery.
Edward Goldsmith Whitfield (1871-1935). Born at Greenough, Edward was the son of Thomas & Mary Georgina Whitfield (nee Guerin). He worked on his father's property at Yandanooka and then farmed at York. He was a member of the Greenhills Road Board and the York Jockey Club, and a founding member of the Country Party.

Arthur J. Barclay (1868-1953) was a Wesleyan minister at Dongara and then at Geraldton from mid-1893 until April 1894 when he transferred to Perth. He had been secretary of the Methodist Ladies' College in its early days and helped found the Methodist Inland Mission.
