NEWCASTLE BALL IN THE TOODYAY MEMORIAL HALL

1986 - 1988
Overview

Colour photo. Men and women in formal dress at a Newcastle Ball, held in the Toodyay Memorial Hall (believed to be in 1986). Some are dancing, while others are seated.
The hall is heavily decorated with streamers and balloons. Gauging from posters on the walls, the theme of the ball seems to be related to vintage motor vehicles.
Large posters of motor vehicles, each with a blue, white and red rosette, are visible on the walls.

Historical information

Newcastle balls in the 1980s were organised by the Toodyay Society, forerunner of the Toodyay Historical Society. The Toodyay Society held the Newcastle Ball annually in the years 1981-1986, and 1988.
The date for this photograph has been based on the date attributed to proof prints held in the Shire of Toodyay collection (2014.198) which appear to be from the same event.
