Historical information

This plastic toy based upon the character Spike from the comedy horror film Gremlins which was released in 1984. The toy was found, along with other material down there since 1900, when the school room was built, under the floorboards of the original Armadale Armadale School building when it was being prepared to be moved to the Minnawarra Historic Precinct in 1987. Because the toy was deemed too new to be of any historic value it was given to Patricia Walker, who was a volunteer helping to prepare the building, to giver to her son Ashley. Ashley kept the toy in his room at the families Kelmscott home on Wandoo Street. It then moved with Patricia in 1994 when the family moved to Salter Point.
The toy though represents the change in what children were playing with over the time the building was an active school room and that even after 87 years students were still loosing things at the school.
