LAND LEASE 1967 - 1988
1967 - 1988The attachment to this item is the 1967 to 1988 Lease Rental agreement for Reserve 28600, the land on which the MGGC golf course and clubhouse are located.
The agreement is between the MGGC and the Town of Melville, in which the land is vested from the State of Western Australia. It was prepared by Robinson Cox Barristers and Solicitors.
This is the original lease that enabled the establishment of the club. The agreement specifies the annual rent:
(a) From 1/9/67 to 30/6/1969 – “peppercorn … as and when demanded”. This period essentially covers the time when the course and clubhouse were being constructed.
(b) From 1/7/1969 onwards - $1,000 per year, paid half-yearly
(c) “…additional rent equivalent to the repayments of principal and interest on the said loans''
Of interest, the second last page of the document shows the plan of the area which sheds light on state the locality of that period. It notes a “Lime Stone and Quarry” to the east of the reserve with a “controlled access road” passing by. The shaded reserve area appears to have been crudely understood and lists the area as 160 crossed out and replaced by 150 acres. The land was subsequently recognised to be 68 hectares (168 acres).
The lease document is ten pages in length.
