c. 1920A black and white photograph of a man standing in grassland holding his hat and in one of his hands is a tree branch. The man has a cigarette in his mouth and the area behind him has been burnt and the air is smoky.
The man in the photograph is Mr P.H. Crossley. In very early bush fires a branch of leaves was used to beat out fire.
