LACE, BOBBIN, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE, EDGING
1750A strip of edging, hand made bobbin lace, Old Buckinghamshire using fine linen thread. This is likely to be Old Buckinghamshire (Bucks Point) prior to the use of point ground. This ground looks like CTpCTT a Dieppe Ground, Pount ground is CTTTTp - the pin is not enclosed, this came into use after 1770 as it was much quicker to do. Thus dating this piece around 1700s.
The smaller piece has repair work where a small piece of machine made net has been very neatly joined in where possibly deterioration took place. Attests to the value of this lace.
