Photograph of former Greenough Roads Board Work shed

c. 1975
Overview

Black and white photograph of a work shed

Historical information

The Greenough Roads Board was established in 1871, but it wasn't until 1906 that it moved into it's own office building in what is now the Central Greenough Historic Settlement. In the 1920s a work shed (pictured) was built behind the office. The Greenough Roads Board amalgamated with the Geraldton Roads Board in 1952 and their buildings at Greenough were sold.
This now demolished shed was located between the former Greenough Roads Board office and St Catherine's Hall (seen on the right)

Contextual Information

This photograph is significant because it (and another photo of the building GMME0621 in this collection) are the only remaining evidence of this building. When the National Trust (WA) took control of the Central Greenough Settlement in the mid-1970s, they demolished any buildings not from the ‘Colonial era.’
