Historical information

The foundation stone for the Wesley Church at Greenough was laid in 1867 by Joseph Hardey of Tranby House in Maylands. Land for the church was donated by John Mills. The place was constructed using ticket of leave labour and opened for worship in 1870. Many of Greenough's early settlers were members of the strong Wesleyan Community which was led by the Waldeck family, who lived in nearby Mt Pleasant.
In October 1912, memorial windows commemorating the Waldeck family were unveiled.
The last service was held in the church in 1944.
