Coloured photograph showing an elevation of the Regal Theatre at 474 Hay Street. The theatre is located at the corner of Hay Street and Rokeby Road. The image is taken from Rokeby Road. Two traffic lights are seen to the left in the image. There are shops at the ground floor of the theatre. Some of the shop names are unintelligible, but two of the signs read 'CHOC BOMBS' and 'HOT COFFEE'. A few cars and some people are seen in the bottom left corner, to the left of the theatre.

Historical information

Part of a study undertaken by KA Adam and Associates architecture firm and the City of Subiaco in 1988 on the main streets of Subiaco, including Rokeby Road and Hay Street.

The Regal Theatre, located at 474 Hay Street, was constructed from 1936 to 1937. The Regal was placed on the State's heritage list of buildings in 1994. It is listed with the National Trust and is registered with the Australian Heritage Commission.
