LACE, BOBBIN, HONITON, HANDKERCHIEF

1891
Overview

A wedding handkerchief in fine white muslin made in 1891 by Fanny Annette Hampton (nee Stone 1839-1919), who was the wife of George Hampton, son of John Hampton, Governor of WA 1861-1868.

Each corner a lace motif of abstract flower and narrow edge in Honiton bobbin lace.

Discolouration in centre and two foxing stains. Because of the age of the handkerchief, no treatment other than washing in de-ionised water with pure soap.
