Baseball score book - 1966 Chrysler Cup night baseball series and 1971 West Australian league games
A baseball/softball scoring book with a red cardboard cover and red fabric binding on the spine. In the centre of the front cover a square, black border surrounds a caricature drawing of a baseball player sliding into base while his opponent waits to receive the ball. The inside pages are off-white and printed with sufficient score sheets for 25 baseball or softball matches. The first inside page shows how to use the score book, and the name of the publisher and the copyright.
Recorded in the book are six matches played in the 1966 Australian interstate Chrysler Cup Night Baseball Series and ten West Australian Baseball League games played in 1971.
This score book was used to record baseball games played in the 1966 Chrysler Cup Night Baseball Series at Norwood Oval in Adelaide, South Australia. The games were played on December 27th, 29th and 30th 1966 between Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Western Australia.
Members of the Western Australian team were:
J. Gillard, A. Cunningham, K. Parry, C. Smith, N. Mallett, J. Bennett, G. Orton, W. Jackimczuk, M. Lenegan, R. Shand, E. Mews, I. Scarman, R. Atkinson, P. Cox.
Other score sheets have been completed in later years to score ten West Australian Baseball League games played in 1971. Recorded matches were between Batavia (Geraldton), Sun City Reds, Swans, Perth, Tigers, Pirates and Invaders. Maitland Park and Spalding Park are named as grounds.

This score book was donated to the Baseball WA Museum & Archives by Ernie Mews, a second baseman in the Western Australian team competing in the 1966 Chrysler Cup. He is also listed on the score sheet as a pitcher and second baseman for Geraldton in the 1971 West Australian Baseball League game against Swans.

This rare scorebook records names of Western Australian players in a 1966 interstate night baseball series, as well as State league players in the 1970s. It has excellence provenance from its donor, who played in both eras and both competitions.
