Royce rocking horse

This rocking horse was made at Greenough c1937 by Howard Maxwell Royce for his children Graeme, Marion, Lindsay & Alison. "His father Max did build the rocking horse, he was a practical man who was always busy at something…they came from Moora in 1936…Lindsay and his siblings loved the horse to bits."
After being donated to the museum on 16/05/1978, GHS undertook some restoration work.

Details
This rocking horse dates from an era when many parents, if they wanted to provide toys for their children, had to make those toys. It is also an example of the use of local materials (hair, skin and leather).
