Powder Puff Container
c. 1850 - 1940A cream cylinder with a lid which lifts off. There are small holes on the top of the cylinder when the lid is removed that allow powder inside the container to be shaken out. There is slide lever which open or closes over the holes.

It is made of a material called zylonite which is a brand name for a plastic material similar to celluloid. The material was originally developed as a substitute for ivory and used for items like eyewear, combs, dressing table sets and collar studs.
