Historical information

Robert James 'Jack' Williams (1879-1960), son of John Henry Williams and Elizabeth Hays, was born in the Western Goldfields.

Married Daisy Elizabeth Geary (1829-1929), daughter of William Geary and Mary Melody, at the Claremont Christ Church, in March 1913.

Jack and Daisy had four children: Alfred James 'Jim' (1923-), Noel (1915 - ), Doris Eileen later Dunn (1917-2000) and Jean later Mulder (1922-2015).

Lived at 22 Gugeri Street, Claremont which later became the site of a Coles Supermarket.

Started as a butcher in Cottesloe. Also worked as a timber cutter, before operating a horse drawn cab service from opposite the Claremont Railway Station hence he was also known as 'Cabbie'. Is believed to have held the last licence for horse drawn cabs in Western Australia.

Bought 5.5 acres in Davies Road, Claremont and moved there in 1945. The Davies Road house was possibly built from material salvaged from demolition of the Gugeri Street house.

The Claremont Council reclaimed (circa 1960) about 2 acres of William's land as part of the Lake Claremont Golf Course development
