CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PARTY

This photograph was taken at one of the club's Childrens Christmas Parties. Although the photograph is undated, the old clubhouse in the background dates it before 2001.

MGGC maintained a long tradition of conducting an annual children’s Christmas party with parents providing presents for their own plus an extra one for a selected charity of less fortunate children. This ethic is reflected in the November 1973 Newsletter (https://collectionswa.net.au/items/2a40d9a7-9ab1-4adf-a168-d1d287a137f6) which includes an article advertising the event that year. It is believed that the party was run every year until 2019 when a decision was made to discontinue it. One of the members of the club would traditionally don the Father Christmas attire to perform the ritual of handing out presents. Other features of many of these events included a visit by the local Fire Station truck, an animal petting setup, pony rides, and a bouncy castle.
