TOY: WOODEN SAILING SHIP WITH STAND, SEDGWICK FAMILY

Overview

Large, wooden toy sailing ship with stand, Sedgwick Family. The ship has two masts, four sails and a bow sprit. The hull of the ship is painted cream, with the keel painted dark green, and the top deck is varnished wood. The accompanying stand is also cream in colour.

The sailing ship was handmade by Alexander Douglas Sedgwick for his son, George Douglas, in his home workshop at 50 Bedford Street, Subiaco.

According to the donor, the family used to sail this ship at Lake Monger.
