Historical information

Bronze medal struck for the Colonial & Indian Exhibition, which was held at South Kensington, London, from 4 May to 20 November 1886. This medal was presented to Douglas Sedgwick, father of Alexander Douglas Sedgwick.
About 5000 of these Indian and Colonial Exhibition medals were struck. They were engraved by Leonard Wyon and minted in Birmingham by Heaton's who charged £145 per 1000 medals. The medals were presented with a diploma to each person who took part in the Indian and Colonial exhibition. The recipient's name were not inscribed.
