MEMORIAL STONE HENRY PARKER
1920Shield-shaped marble memorial tablet (26 x 509 x 537mm), attached to a square slate back stone (15 x 608 x 611mm).
The tablet was unveiled at a special service in the Toodyay Methodist Church on Sunday 25th July 1920. The money for the tablet was raised by Mr. Parker's friends as a memorial in the building he helped to erect, being a long-term member of the congregation. In the 1960s John Campbell took it from the original Methodist Church when it was bulldozed for the Standard Gauge Railway. When he moved to Perth, he gave it to the Newcastle Gaol Museum, Toodyay.

Henry Parker died suddenly on Sunday night after attending the Methodist church service at 7.30pm. At about 9pm he was returning home with his wife and when reaching the vicinity of Mrs. AC Smith's residence became suddenly ill. Mrs Parker assisted her husband into Mrs Smith's house and Dr. Hussey was immediately sent for. Mr Parker died shortly afterward; the cause of death being cerebral haemorrhage. Mr Parker was an energitic worker for the church and was also a prominent member of the Freemasons and took an active part in the local lodge. He was born in Perth in 1848, was a member of the WA Police Force for 14 years and afterwards had 23 years service in the Postal Department as a Linesman, retiring from that position 10 years before his death.
