Overview

On Sunday 29th April 2001 a formal ceremony occurred when the Governor of Western Australia, Lt General John Sanderson AC, officially opened the redeveloped clubhouse.

The documents shown in the attachments convey the day’s proceedings:

a. Two page, A4 sized Programme prepared by Managing Secretary Peter Evans. Describes the Setup, Lunch arrangements, Official Party and Procedure

b. Four page, A4 sized memo and speech prepared by General Manager Peter Evans to Max Hannah who presented the speech.

c. Four page, A4 sized hand written speech by Laurie Palmer, the Chair of the redevelopment Project Committee.

d. A one page personal invitation to Laurie Palmer and his wife to the Official Opening luncheon.

The documents were provided by Laurie Palmer’s family. This is reflected in the content such as Laurie’s hand-written speech for the clubhouse opening.

Photographs from the opening day appear in Items 2020.64.1 numbers 15 and 26.
