Seven Small Bronzes

Overview

7 plinths supporting 7 bronze statues

Historical information

Each of these small bronzes alludes to the lives of residents of the City of Wanneroo and their natural surroundings. The sculptures represent surfing, swimming, gardening and interaction with native fauna. One of the original artworks was of a fisherman. This one was stolen, but a swimmer on a swimming pool block has replaced it at the entrance to the arcade. The seven pieces on plinths are designed to be approachable, intimate works that are easily engaged with by passing shoppers. The detail and tactile surfaces of the bronzes invite participation, and provoke memory and stories.
