The Story of HMS Challenger

The booklet is the fourth in a series of booklets dealing with the Early Days of Western Australia. There is a picture of Captain Charles Howe Fremantle, picture of H.M.S. Challenger and a sketch map of the grounding of the Parmelia on Parmelia Bank June 2, 1829, the Fort at Fremantle June 1829.

At the top of the booklet in black typed lettering is "SWAN RIVER BOOKLETS No. 4" and underneath this is "THE STORY OF H.M.S. Challenger (1826-1835)" underneath is "The Ship in which Captain Fremantle took possession of Western Australia for the British Crown in 1829. By Cygnet".
In the top left hand corner handwritten in pencil is "Mr Tylor".
At the bottom of the booklet in black typed lettering is "Published by the SWAN RIVER PRESS, 992 Hay Street, Perth. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED PRICE - SIXPENCE"
The author of this booklet was the great granddaughter of Ann Farmer, the first white woman to land in Perth.
