Historical information

The booklet is the fourth in a series of booklets dealing with the Early Days of Western Australia. There is a picture of General Sir George Murray, a picture of Officials and Mrs Dance at ceremony of felling the tree, a picture of Mrs Ann Farmer the first white woman to land in Perth and and her daughter.

Inscriptions and markings

At the top of the booklet in black typed lettering is "SWAN RIVER BOOKLETS No. 4" and underneath this is "THE STORY OF THE Birth of Perth August the Twelfth 1829" and underneath is "The Day on which Perth was Founded by the chopping down of a tree. By Cygnet".

In the top left hand corner handwritten in pencil is "Mr Tylor".

At the bottom of the booklet in black typed lettering is "Published by the SWAN RIVER PRESS, 992 Hay Street, Perth. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED PRICE - SIXPENCE"

Contextual information

The author of this booklet was the great granddaughter of Ann Farmer, the first white woman to land in Perth.
