Four of the men are standing and three are seated and in front of the centre man is an elaborate shield which has a St John Ambulance Maltese cross in the centre and is surrounded with smaller shield shaped plaques.
T Claydon is the first on the left and he worked as a painter on the railways.
On the left bottom of the photograph in white typed lettering is "KATANNING RAILWAY AMBULANCE CORPS 1917".
On the shield is "AMBULANCE CORPS JUNIOR CHALLENGE SHIELD
An article which details that teams from Katanning won both the Open Championship and the Junior Challenge shields for the annual St John Ambulance Railway Corp competition. The article lists the names for both teams.
