Cordins' Butchers Cart

Overview

George Cordin Jr in vest, dark trousers, white shirt and butchers' apron standing beside butchers' delivery cart. The body of the cart is wooden with ventilation panels around the front and side. There is a round step bracketed on the side for the driver to step onto the platform. A wooden panel is in front of the driver's area with shaped steel bracket surrounding it for the reins. In front of this, part of the shafts are visible. There are large wooden spoked wheels, and on the side is [GEO. CORDIN PROP.]. In the background is a high wooden fence.

Historical information

Goerge Cordin Jr was born in Fremantle and lived above the butcher shop in Bay View Terrace, Claremont. He and his 2 sisters attended the Claremont Demonstration School. He attended Sunday School at the Congregational Church, where he rang the bell. He became a butcher in the family business. The Claremont Meat Co. delivery cart is now part of the Claremont Museum collection.
