Fundraising Badge - "Discharged Soldiers"

Overview

A circular pressed tinplate badge with a celluloid face and a pin attachment to the reverse. On the front, a gold-bordered heart shape within a green wreath, and background is burgundy in colour. A yellow seven-pointed star at the top. The gold lettering is featured within the heart, on a beige background with yellow dots. A gold and white border encloses the whole design. A word in black text appears on the outer circled rim.

Historical information

These badges were produced about 1918 or 1919 to gain funds to assist Australian soldiers discharged from the armed forces after serving in World War 1.
