ORAL HISTORY (AUDIO): NEEVAY, RUBY

2005
Overview

Mrs Ruby D. Neevay (born 1925) recollects her childhood in Shenton Park. She was educated at Rosalie Primary School and Perth Girls High School. She worked for a florist after leaving school at 14. At 15 and a half years she commenced working for Bristile - later called Australian Fine China. She stayed with Bristile for 45 years, apart from breaks when her 3 children were born. She worked at Bristile (in every department) for the whole of the production period, including 'Wembley Ware', and learnt various processes on the job. She devised her own method of making china roses. She retired in 1986 but at 80 years (in 2005) she still made china flowers for monumental masons, working at home.
