CERTIFICATE (DIGITAL COPY): WEDDING CERTIFICATE, ST. ANDREW'S CHURCH, 1943
1943Digital copy of the wedding certificate of Ernest Vivian Markwell and Carlina May Markwell (née Hutchinson), which took place at St. Andrew's Church, Subiaco, December 18th, 1943. The certificate is printed on beige card, and is double leaf and double sided.
Front Page:
The front page of the document reads 'OUR MARRIAGE' with a red cross above, and information filled in along the lines by hand in black ink.
'CHURCH OF' is printed at the top of the page, with 'St. Andrew, / Subiaco W.A.' handwritten in black ink along the printed line.
'Name' (printed) / 'Ernest Vivian Markwell' (handwritten).
'Name' (printed) / 'Carlina May Hutchinson' (handwritten).
'Date' (printed) / 'December 18th 1943' (handwritten).
A signature has been inscribed along the dotted line above 'Clergy'.
Inner Pages:
The two inner pages contain three subtitles, printed in red italics, with three to four points below each one relating to religious faith and hopes and promises in marriage.
'What God has done for us in the past:', with three points below.
'What we have done to-day:', with three points below and the date of '19/12/43' handwritten in black ink to the right.

The back page contains a prayer printed at the centre.
'Our Prayer', printed in red italics, with the words to the prayer printed below in black ink. The last line of the prayer contains a printing error, with 'Jesus' spelt as 'Jesu'.
'Published for The Mother's Union Diocese of Bunbury', printed at the bottom of the page.
The wedding certificate belonged to the mother and father of the donor, and was passed on via the family. The donor was one of four children.
Mother: Carlina May Markwell (née Hutchinson)
Born, East Fremantle. Lost parents at five years of age and was sent to an orphanage in Queens park, c. 1910/1911. Died in 1965.
Father: Ernest Vivian Markwell
Born, Midland.
Occupation: Faller/logger. Died in 1971.
