Historical information

In late 1994 a serious bushfire burnt out large proportion of Wungong Gorge and Bungendore Park and threatened homes in the Bedfordale locality. The Bedfordale Volunteer Bushfire Brigade were one one of the lead units in the fight against the bushfire.

This stubby holder was commissioned and presented to the Bedfordale Volunteer Bushfire Brigade by the City of Armadale as part of a larger acknowledgement and thanks for the work they did during the fire.

The 1994/1995 fire season was regarded as a bad fire season. The Wungong Gorge fire burnt out 85% of the vegetation and took a number of years to recover.
