Overview

Rectangular, cream plastic box as the base with a cradle to accept the hand set. Between the cradle are the square push button set in a pattern three rows of four across numbered one to twwelve, below is bar marked with the letter 'C' and adjacent to it is a button marked 'A'.
The handset is connected to the base via a convoluted brown cable and has square press button near the ear-piece and a card with two columns. The left is numbered one to twelve and the right is A1 to A12. A1 has the initials S.D, A3 R.M, A5 B.L, A7 N.Mc, A8 J P, 10 I.J and A10 B M in pencil.
The lower right side of the base has knob which is rotatable through nearly 360°.
A rectangular connection box is attached to the base by a 1200mm straight cable.
Text on the front [AIPHONE MODEL TB-24H]. [JAPAN] is moulded on the back, and a sticker has text [ISO Inspected / MODEL TB-24H / LOT NO. 3146852 / AIPHONE CO., LTD. MADE IN JAPAN].

Historical information

This phone was installed in the office of the chief ranger in the City of Armadale administration building in c1985 to ensure they were able to communicate with their team of rangers and with local volunteer fire brigades during bushfire incidents.
Three or four of these telephones were installed in various places in the newly opened Council offices C1985 and were used until about 2005.
