Overview

This article describes the history of the MGGC Cottage, or Caretaker's Cottage. It was referenced in the September 2024 club newsletter.

Constructed in 1977, the cottage has been occupied by various staff members who have typically been a member of the course staff. This arrangement offers a discounted rental for the occupant in exchange for various forms of caretaker's roles at the club. These roles have included responding to breakdowns, emergencies, gardening, and other routine club employment requirements. In addition, having someone resident on the course acts as a deterrent for unauthorised visitors.
