(Copy) THREE DOCUMENTS RELATED TO SANDALWOOD HARVESTING 1877-1888
1877Three articles pertaining to the harvesting of sandalwood in the Kojonup District.
A. 21st March 1877: a receipt made out to Mr James Tunney for 1 ton, 5 cwt (Hundredweight) 3 Quarters and 25 lbs (Pounds) of sandlewood - signed by Mr J?FL Hassell
b. 28th November 1888 Legal complaint that Walter? Of Grovers farm did cut live sandalwood on the wasteland of the Crown within forty miles of the Great Southern Railway - signed by police constable William Kelly
c.A search warrant for felon who stole twenty-six branded sandalwood logs and a tin tack belonging to John Jordon - Labourer, who brought the complaint to John Roseslloty ? JP . Each sandalwood cutter had their own brand. John Jordon's was IX, and this may have helped identify the theft. Date unknown - but possibly earlier than 1888, as he was hjarvested on Crown land and it appears to be legal.
