MAURICE, Elsie

Elsie is acknowledged in the earlier years of MGGC for work she performed in association with the role of historian. One record of this is from an extract of a letter dated 29/11/67 to her from one of the founders Murray Day after she took photographs of the members performing “working bees” during the period when the course was being constructed in the period 1967-1969:

Dear Elsie,

Many thanks for your letter dated 22nd October which was tabled at the Meeting of the Council of Management held on the 20th November (1967).

The members have requested me to thank you for your good wishes and at the same time express their gratitude for your efforts in photographing the group at the Course.

Your kind offer to act as Club historian has been accepted by the Council and discussions on this subject will be arranged in the near future.

Yours sincerely,

MURRAY DAY
GENERAL MANAGER

A second acknowledgement is recorded in the Silver Anniversary Booklet written by Laurie Palmer who lists her as “providing assistance” in the Booklet’s compilation.
