Six camels tethered together in a bush setting. Each camel has a load of boxes to their backs.
Camels were a vital part of Western Australia’s development, used for transport and exploration. Camel trains were used in remote and arid areas where it was too difficult or impossible for horses. A male camel could carry up to 600 kilograms. Car and truck transport started to replace camels in the 1930’s.
