Historical information

Samuel Greenwood migrated to Australia from London in 1912 with his two oldest sons, Samuel (13) and George (12) arriving at Fremantle on the 'Orama'. His wife Mary, three younger sons, Harold (9), Fred (7),and Francis (4) and two daughters, Elsa (15) and Agatha (17) sailed from Antwerp to Fremantle on the 'Cassel'. Also on the ship was Percy Dee,(22) who later married Agatha Greenwood. The family lived in a weatherboard cottage in Peel Street, Jolimont. They later moved to 72 Redfern Street, Subiaco because they were concerned about the swampy conditions in Jolimont.
Samuel Greenwood and family migrated to Australia due to the appointment of his employer as a magistrate in W.A. Samuel Greenwood served as an usher in the magistrates court.
Agatha married Percy Dee on Christmas Day, 1914, in the newly built St.Hugh's Church on the corner of Cardigan Terrace and Peel street, Jolimont. It is thought to have been the first wedding at St.Hugh's. Percy and Agatha returned to England after the outbreak of war. Percy served in France. The couple had one daughter, Marguerite (Peggy) (who with Agatha visited her Australian relatives in 1922 ??)
In 1957 Peggy and her husband Bob (Albert Alfred) Gunn migrated to Perth with their three children, one of whom is Pam Gunn. In 1958 Agatha and Percy again migrated to Perth in their retirement.
