c. 1950
Overview

Black and white digital image of The School Shop, corner Cardigan Terrace and Rosebery Street. It shows a small old fashioned corner shop with house attached. The shop front has a four paned window in the front and an open door. It has an overhanging verandah that is supported by two square posts. There are various advertising signs painted on the verandah sides, and various advertising signs attached to the front wall. At the front and on top of the verandah is a sign stating 'THE SCHOOL SHOP / GENERAL STORE AND NEWSAGENCY'. The house attached to the shop has a corrugated iron roof, and a lattice enclosed front verandah. It appears to be of fibro construction. There is a picket fence and wire and iron gate. A lady is just leaving the shop with a parcel under her arm. The shop was owned by a Mr and Mrs Heedes. Students would sometimes buy pies that Mrs Heedes had made the night before.
