ASHTRAY: GREEN METAL
c. 1950Circular green metal ashtray with chrome lid which fits over it. The lid has a tubular handle containing a screw with a circular metal disk attached to its lower print. A green plastic knob covers the handle. When handle is pressed down the metal disk spins and with centrifugal action deposits the ash into the tray below. When the knob is released the disk moves up against rim of lid, thereby closing the ashtray. Found in the Lipfert home at 270 York Street, Subiaco. W.A.
