CAMERA: NO. 2-A FOLDING AUTOGRAPHIC BROWNIE WITH CASE

Overview

Camera, flat black rectangular shape with rounded ends. Has key in one end for winding film and slot at rear covered with metal flap. Raised letters state: 'Use film No. A 116'. Folding section slides out on tracks mounted on hinged metal plate which shuts the folding camera when not in use. There is a metal distance finder marked in metres and feet alongside. On the metal strip surrounding the lens is printed in gilt letters: Made in USA by Eastman Kodak Co. Rochester N.Y. Below that appears the name and patent no. of the camera on another metal plate. The view finder is mounted on a metal bracket above the lens. A flat metal switch to the right releases the shutter. Possible seriel number - 11206.

Historical information

The Kodak No. 2 Folding Autographic Brownie was a folding camera for the type 120 Autographic film. More than half a million models were made between 1915 and 1926, with various design tweaks made along the way. The sharp edged boxes were changed to curved in 1917, and the foot shape changed from an S-shape to a C-curve in 1919.
