5 Piece Empire Ware China Set
c. 19205 piece Empire ware "Dickens Day" china set depicting scenes of coach and horses consisting of cake plate, biscuit barrel, sugar bowl, jug and slop bowl. Whilst all items have images containing "coach and horses" each item has a slightly different scene. All items feature an earthen colour at the base and which transition to a summer sky with clouds at the top.
Empire Porcelain was established around 1896 at the Empire Works in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. They manufactured a wide range of earthenware products including tableware and ornament wares. In the late 1920s and 1930s they experimented using drip glaze decorations and art deco style products. Empire Porcelain ceased trading in 1967.
