Black leather hard cover embossed with goldlettering and design. Book of Martys: being a History of the persecution of the Protestants, carefully compiled from original documents in the Government State Paper Office, and know as the 'Acts and Monuments of the Christian Church'. With a Memoir of the Author, by John S. Roberts, and a preface, by the Rev. S. G. Potter, (D.D.), Vicar of St Luke's Sheffield. 876 pages, illustrated in colour with a series of Steel Engravings. Written in ink at beginning of book is inscription 'Rose Day from her affectionate brother Willie'. Frontis; Martyrdom of Ridley and Latimer.
