Property of HS (Harry) Whittington, 'Springhill', Brookton, Western Australia, Australia - 096

1955
Overview

Avon Location 19910. The gully that we looked at from the upper slopes of Avon Location 5781, only we are midway down the slope and looking into the gully. The soil (silt) must be somewhere over the next paddock or across the road into a neighbour. This photo was taken about 1/3 of the distance up towards the fence at the line of trees. By scouring that is still taking place, the pasture furrows and absorption banks are not really controlling the runoff. It is from this evidence that the interceptor bank was introduced. This image was taken by the West Australian newspaper. PLEASE NOTE: We are unable to provide a public view of this image as the copyright is held by The West Australian newspaper.
