31677 Gunner Marcus St John Herbert Stone of Perth enlisted on 19 April 1916 and embarked from Melbourne on 23 December 1916 on RMS Orontes as part of Reinforcement 9 of 10 Field Artillery Brigade. He returned to Australia on 12 March 1917 due to spinal meningitis. Gunner Stone died on 19 August 1942, aged 44 years.
