BUTTER DISH: PRESENTED TO MR GRACE FROM SUBIACO PRIMARY SCHOOL, 1899
1898Butter dish, round dish embossed with 3 cherries, leaves and branch. Covered by thick greenish looking glass. There is a handle which is square in shape with rounded corners. Attached by a knob at the top middle part. It has an elaborate floral design at either side of the handles. This rests on a square; shape all round intricate elaborate floral designs. One side has 2 extensions representing birds (2) on a branch (for knife-holder) left and right side has in middle ornamental key protruding which can be used to turn cover over butter so that cover and ice container form globular shape. The cover has beautiful stylised engravings:- 'Presented to Mr S J Grace as a memento from the scholars Public School, Subiaco, July 13th, 1898'. All this is supported by an elaborate decorated half-circle which meets at a cube which in turn is supported by round, softly curved foot. It has a 10mm engraved borderline.
