AL HOWARD LETTER JUNE 2000
2000This three page letter from Al Howard, the original MGGC course designer, was received by the club on June 2, 2000.
The letter represents the last communication the club had with him. In the letter, he discusses some of the reasoning behind his course design produced in 1967. In that reasoning he relates the subsequent changes that the club implemented, the most significant being:
- The reversal of play for each nine
- Changing holes 17/18 from a par 5 / par 3 to par 3 / par 5.
The letter was also reproduced in Newsletter September 2000 (Item 2022.205).
