Contextual information

The Central aperture sight design was first patented in Australia in 1934, with the application accepted in 1935, which effectively marks the start of commercial production. The design is attributed to the Dunn family in Melbourne, and production had ceased by the time modern discussions describe them as no longer made but still widely used on club rifles
