Glass Plate Negative - Soldiers, Hickey Street Cottages, Ardross, WWI

1912 - 1918
Overview

Three young men in Australian Army Uniform, wearing slouched hats, with trees on either side of them and a wooden fence behind and the gable of a roof and chimney can be seen behind the men.

Historical information

The soldier on the far right was identified as John Laurie, who served in the 9th Reinforcements 16th Battalion in 1914-15. He lived in Collie and worked as a miner. He died in 1928 in a mine accident.
From the insignia shown on the front of their hat this would date the photo as having been taken some time during the period 1912-1918.
